Our Ironman....

"IRONMAN"

If it were not for Joel going to college at Michigan Tech, perhaps the "Ironman" run would have never been born.  We may have missed the powder and the white clean snow of the Keweenaw Penisula, and now we can't live without it.  The Ironman is a annual snowmobile run from Armstrong Creek (the land of Buck, Bill, John, and Tom) all the way up to Houghton, Michigan.  It is quite a feat of man hood that requires many gas cans full of fuel of all varieties...

As the men start to get ready for the ride that comes the first weekend in February we recognize that although this year they may be one sled short, they are definitely not one man short.  Joel was the ultimate Ironman, and will be riding with them this year...

Many miles, many friends, many memories...

May the snow be plenty, the trails be groomed, and the men be made of IRON!

Joel's coworkers send their compliments...

We wanted everyone to hear of the many neat projects that Joel worked on and the many people he was able to meet through his work.  Some of their comments are posted here...

Joel at graduation of MTU - Headed off to Jacobs!

Curt,

Joel was one of the best engineers I have had the pleasure to work with.   Everyone in our facility who interacted with him marveled at his attitude and ability.  We all miss Joel here.

We at least had a chance to work with him.  I’m sure he’s in a better place now.  Our goal in the journey of life is to meet him again when it is our time.

You can very proud of Joel and what he shared with others!

Sincerely,

Don Whitehouse

Jacobs Engineering...

As we all start heading back to our jobs - if we are fortunate to have one at this time - we start to remember how much Joel enjoyed his time with Jacobs Engineering.  He made many friends and enjoyed working on all of the challenging power supply projects as a chance to use his creativity and practical skills.

Jacob's Engineering
We will forever cherish the letter that Jacobs wrote to us regarding Joel's time there and his work ethic.  We were so thankful for all of the kind comments that his employees told us, as he would never tell us too much about the things he was doing at work.  We all assumed he was doing great things and continuing to work hard, but the out pouring of support from Jacobs confirmed our beliefs and how proud we are of Joel.
A letter form Joacbs that we will always cherish...
One of our favorite anecdotes that we heard about Joel's time at Jacob's came from when they cleaned out his desk in attempt to bring us some of his belongings from work.  When they opened his desk, they found 40 cents in change and a hand sketch of his cabin floor plans.  It is such a perfect example of how Joel lived his life with simplicity and focus.

We cannot thank Jacobs Engineering enough for supporting Joel in his work endeavors and for giving him the opportunity to contribute to engineering projects. We're so happy that he was able to make so many friends in such a short time.  He sincerely enjoyed his employment and time after college.  Thank you again for your important role in Joel's life.
